Sugar Bowl

Well I don't know much what to say about the Sugar Bowl. I mean the Utes absolutely dominated in a 31-17 victory. The offense was sparkling scoring 21 straight points to open the first quarter. Alabama closed the gap with a punt return touchdown (one of Utah's two mistakes) and then a touchdown on a short field after a Brian Johnson fumble (the other mistake). Aside from those, the Alabama offense just couldn't move the ball. The Utes ended with 8 sacks, compare that with 17 total all season. Not to mention the two interceptions Utah had compare that with John Parker Wilson's 8 all season. The Utes were better prepared, schematically and emotionally. They were more fired up, they were better coached and 100% outplayed their SEC counterparts. Congratulations to the Ute team, coaches, and the entire Ute Nation.

But... don't get me started on the debate as to where the Utes should end up in the final polls. Just look here; here; here; or here and you'll get an idea on which side of the fence I sit (I am just a little biased). No matter which way the polls shake out this Utah team will go down as one of the best in Utah history, in Mountain West history, and well in national history, honestly they have a resume to compare with most teams. It matter-eth not to me (sort of) that the Utes won't get crowned mythical national champions. The Utes and everyone of their fans can hang their hats on the fact that they didn't lose. They beat who they played. They had close games, they had blowouts, and they had everything in between. This season was great, it was beyond great. Everyone who followed this team knows this and that is enough to be proud of.
